1. The first Labor Day was in New York City on 9/5/1882 planned by the Central Labor Union. 2. Labor Day is considered the “unofficial NFL season kickoff.” 3. In 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday. 4. and finally…….the first Waffle House opened in 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia on you guessed it…….Labor Day.
