Al Shank Sez….Watch Where You Sit…..

Al Shank Insurance Sez….it’s storm season and don’t forget the damage that lightning can do. The other day, in Okmulgee, OK, lightning made its way through a vent in an apartment and obliterated a toilet. While some blamed various fast food restaurants and one said “it would be a crappy way to go,” we would just say….this is one definition of being on the “hot seat.”

Here again, lightning can be beautiful. We all “ooh and aah” at its powerful magnificence, but let’s nor forget it is deadly, particulary now. May is the biggest month for tornado outbreaks and they are almost always accompanied by storms including lightning. So be mindful of it and using common sense safety.

Here are things that help: 1. Avoid water; 2. Avoid electrical equipment; 3. Avoid corded phones; 4. Avoid windows, doors, porches and concrete (concrete? yep……..concrete usually has metal wires or bars running through it); 5. Seek Shelter. And if you forget those……remember the old saying, ” When thunder roars…..go indoors.”

At Al Shank Insurance, we think now is a good time to check your insurance policies to make sure you have the coverage you need. We’ll be glad to review with you….ASI…Insurance as it should be from people you trust.
