Al Shank Sez………..Thank You Senator Bob Dole.

As Al Shank Insurance enters 80 years in business we celebrate Senator Bob Dole. He is pictured here with our founder, Al Shank Sr., on his right, and local businessman and Seward County Republican Chair Jim French outside the “new” industry in town in the 1960’s, Tradewind Industries. Most know how great Bob Dole was in Congress but don’t always know how great he was on individual constituent’s problems. In 1967, my brother in law, Oliver, was killed in a Air Force fighter jet training accident over seas. You not only have the burdens you normally have with the loss of a loved one but we waited for Oliver’s body and my sister to come home. In this case the body was “misplaced.” Everything went from bad to worse. Al Sr. called then Congressman Dole and asked for his help. Within a few hours Oliver was found and the unnecessary stress was relieved. Our family will be forever thankful for Senator Dole and his help. Thanks for your service to Kansans and the United States of America, Senator. God’s Speed!
